To eliminate efflorescent salts or for etching smooth concrete surfaces.

Checklist

  • Plastic container
  • Rubber boots and glovesProtective goggles
  • Plastic watering can
  • Comfortable old clothes
  • Broom or long-handled brush
  • High-pressure washer
  • Electrical equipment or plastic film to test moisture
  • Polyprep 771-127 muriatic acid
  1. Pour product into a plastic container.
  2. Dampen surface.
  3. Generously apply product with plastic watering can.
  4. Vigorously rub surface with a broom or long-handled brush.
  5. Let work for 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Rinse with power washer using clean water before surface dries.
  7. Repeat until concrete turns rough.
  8. Wait 3 to 5 dry sunny days before performing moisture test.
  9. Test surface moisture in 4 or 5 shady locations. Use an electronic device or attach plastic (polyethylene) film with masking tape to spots to be tested. Leave plastic film in place 3 days. After 3 days, check for any traces of moisture (drops of water forming under the plastic film).
  10. If there is no trace of moisture, apply the paint of your choice.
