Coating discolouration on cedar and redwood (brownish)

Coating discolouration on cedar and redwood (brownish)

Causes

  1. The natural colours contained in cedar and redwood are water soluble and give pale, water-based coatings a brownish cast. This colouration has no impact on the stability or life span of the paint film.

Solutions

  1. Opaque Coatings: Let coating dry. Apply GoPrime 150-135 primer over the coating and then reapply coating.
Transparent or semi- transparent coatings:
None.
  • Test the use of a water-based coating of pale colour on cedar and redwood prior to undertake your entire project.
