Causes

  1. New coating applied on a coating which has not hardened.
  2. Coating applied too thinly.
  3. Coating applied to thickly.
  4. Coating applied on a surface without primer.
  5. Coating over thinning.
  6. Poor quality coating.
  7. Coating applied at overly high temperatures.
  8. Coating applied on old, hard paint – loss of flexibility.
  9. Accumulation of coating layers.

Solutions

  1. Also for causes 2-9: Strip and sand the surface, apply a base coat and reapply the coating.
  • Follow the directions regarding the optimal application temperature.
  • Apply quality paint.
  • Comply with directions regarding the products’ spreading rate.
