Stepping into spring fashion with a clean start

As we slowly leave winter behind, this is the time to get your closet in top organizational shape in order to make the most out of your wardrobe and provide room for new additions

With the official first day of spring just around the corner, we can’t contain our excitement for all the spring fashions we’ll be able to wear once the bitter temperatures make room for blue skies and cheerful blooms. But, for a clean and fresh start, there’s a task we all should accomplish before we step into the new season: spring-cleaning our wardrobe.

As we slowly leave winter behind, this is the time to get your closet in top organizational shape in order to make the most out of your wardrobe and provide room for new additions. After all, how are you supposed to fit in all your new spring pieces if your shelves are overstocked and your racks are one jumbled mess?

The transition from a spring wardrobe to a winter one can become a little difficult, since we still need lightweight jackets, coats and sweaters handy. But by storing all the chunky knits and heavy accessories, while leaving a couple of choices accessible, we reduce the noise of those pieces that take a lot of space and are no longer season appropriate.

Once your closet is de-cluttered and organized, you’re ready for a clean and fresh start. This would be the time to plan a new season makeover, and whether you are in need of more basics or trend-based items, you can remorselessly dive into spring’s latest trends.

Crop tops, sporty bomber jackets, wide-legged trousers, metallics, white collars, midi skirts, collarless coats, cropped and boxy jackets, and soft shades like minty-greens, lilacs, blush and baby blue, invaded the Spring 2014 runways. Whether you’re conservative or more fashion-oriented, there are options for all tastes at all price points. Those who want to stay safe can opt for pieces in neutral colours, while the adventurous crowd can opt for the same items in fun prints and textures.

No matter how strongly you’re stepping into spring’s latest trends, an organized closet will provide you with a good start to the season!
