One of the best things about summer is definitely being able to escape the day to day routine and enjoy relaxing days at the beach. Whether or not you actually have the time to hit your favorite beach destination, you can bring the same calming vibes of the sand and sea into your home by incorporating beach themed décor pieces. After all, you don’t have to live near the ocean to enjoy the heavenly atmosphere of the beach!

Beach themes are very common for bathrooms, but you can also integrate it around the rest of your home. There are different directions you can take: you can go nautical, tropical, or preppy Hamptons inspired, but not matter your preference, the key for keeping it chic and sophisticated is to incorporate the theme in a subtle way and add personal meaningful touches. Keep in mind that you don’t have to do a whole room makeover: small changes like paint colour, pillows, and simple décor items go a long way.

Start with transforming you room into a relaxing space by choosing a soft palette of whites, beiges or blues for your walls. Add texture with seashells, driftwood, linen, and bamboo to name a few. Fill glass vases with natural elements such as seashells and/or sand you have collected from your favorite beach, or display large seashells on your shelves. Decorate your walls with art featuring sea animals and plants, or photos of your last vacation, or use a driftwood mirror as a focal point. Linen pillows in sand, white, turquoise, and blue shades keep the room light, cool and airy. You can also consider adding pillows or a rug in a striped pattern, as it is the quintessential beach motif.

While you won’t be able to feel the sand between your toes, breathe the salty air from the ocean and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, these simple décor ideas will definitely make you feel like you’re on vacation!
