With summer upon us, we are surrounded with an abundance of beautiful flowers and greenery. Streets, parks and gardens are bursting with beautiful blooms, trees, and plants, as are flower shops and farmers’ markets. All this inspiring beauty can easily be brought into our homes to spruce up and brighten up our spaces. After all, summer won’t last long and we should take advantage of the beauty it brings.

The simplest way to spruce things up is to find some readily available fresh cut flowers and display them in our homes. A bouquet of fresh flowers is the easiest way to add a cheerful pop of colour, so make sure you select flowers that are in season and that add colour, beauty and fragrance. Peonies, tulips and roses are among the most popular because of their size and beauty, while lilacs have a distinctive fragrance strong enough to scent a whole room with just one stem.

When arranging your flowers, cut the stems diagonally and fill your vases with cold water. Be creative; use jars, clear and coloured bottles, mugs, vintage glasses and painted cans as vases. Don’t forget to change the water every other day to make your flowers last longer.

Maximize a single bouquet by using it to make single flower arrangements and decorate your home with pretty displays of fresh flowers in bathrooms, bedrooms, the kitchen and the dining room. Don’t limit yourself to just one area—remember that one single flower arrangement has the power to brighten up a whole space and make a cheerful impact!

If you’d like to make a bigger statement and add more dimension to your space, you can opt for a potted tree such as a fiddle leaf fig tree, which is right on trend at the moment. And if you have a garden, then all you have to do is select a variety of flowers and greenery and make a beautiful arrangement.

Whether you use fresh cut flowers from a florist or from your garden, adding colour and cheerfulness to your home is as easy as picking up a charming bouquet of flowers!
